John Sickels does another of his trademark “Prospect Retros,” this time for Aaron Harang. For the uninitiated, this is where Sickels takes an imaginary trip back in time to evaluate a player at each stage of his minor league career.
Actually, in Harang’s case, it’s much less imaginary, since Sickels was actually evaluating/grading/writing about Harang back to his career at San Diego State.

Nothing earth-shattering, but interesting.

the top three reds pitchers by VORP are (Webb included for comparison, with NL rank):

    1. B. Webb 21.4
    4. B. Arroyo 17.2
    22 T. Coffee 9.8
    32 A. Harang 8.3

So Sickles judgement that Harang has become a pretty solid ML pitcher seems pretty right on. with 16 teams in the league and more than a few relievers on the list, at 32nd Harang falls squarely into the #2 starter mold.

the question is how long bronson maintains that #1 look.
