Syracuse 4 – Louisville 0

Nothing happening for the Bats offensively, but two performances of note on the mound. 23 year old Elizardo Ramirez threw 6 innings of scoreless baseball for the Bats, giving up only 3 hits, walking none, and striking out 7. Meanwhile, Ryan Wagner got roughed up, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits in only a 1 1/3 of an inning.

Chattanooga 5 – Mobile 4

Again, not much to get excited about offensively. Luis Bolivar had two hits, one of them a double. Javier Colina another middle infielder, had his first homer of the season.

25 year old Steve Kelly, who last year pitched in Louisville, ran his record to 2-0 with 6 1/3 innings of 5 hit, 3 run baseball.

High A

Sarasota 7 – Clearwater 4

Big night for 22 year old Cody Strait going 4-5 with 4 doubles. Strait’s putting up impressive numbers thus far in his first season for Sarasota (.282/.378/.538).

2005’s 5th round pick James Avery was roughed up for 3 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks in 3 innings.

Low A

Quad Cities 5 – Dayton 4 (10 innings)

Quad Cities broke Dayton’s modest (but season best) 2 game winning streak, with Bo Lanier taking the loss in relief.

Jay Bruce, DHing for the second straight day, was 2-4 with a double (his 6th of the season) and a walk. Bruce’s numbers are outstanding for a 19 year old having his first taste of “full season” baseball. (.327/.397/.577).

Zach Ward was unimpressive in his 3rd start, giving up 3 ER on 7 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings. Russell Haltiwanger continued his good work in long relief for the Dragons with 2 scoreless innings.
