What do you think about this?

That prompted this dispatch from a reputable Reds source who prefers to remain anonymous: “The Reds’ new ownership group is ready to dump black as one of the team’s colors as soon as the 2006 season is over. If they didn’t have so much black and red merchandise, they would have made the switch for this year. The best part? Navy blue is going to be the new third color, like in the days of old.” You heard it here first, people.

Blue? I don’t think so.

I’m entirely in favor of dumping the black from the Reds’ uniforms. I didn’t like the idea when they first added black, and I don’t like it still.

But blue? Yeah, there is some history of blue in Reds’ uniforms, but that doesn’t make it right.

What do you guys/gals think?

Hey, as long as they don’t go back to the ‘ice cream man’ uni’s of the mid nineties. I think the black is sharp, and the black hats are the sharpest hats that they have had in a long time. I could deal with blue, although it’s just one more way to confuse the bears and reds colors and ‘C.’ I’m going to wait and see before I judge.

I seem to recall another primarily red/white MLB franchise using blue as an accent color (St Louis)

The black is gawd-awful in a lame 90’s marketing survey kind of way. There is no real precedent for the reds to have black in their uni’s…
