AAA
Louisville 6, Ottawa 2
23 year-old Venezuelan, William Bergolla, went 3-4 with a 2B, a HR, and 4 RBI. He hasn’t shown patience at any level in the minor leagues, but he has also been very young at every level. There is still some home for Billy.
26 year-old Catcher Ryan Jorgensen continues to hit the ball hard. Jorgensen went 2 for 2 with a 2B, a BB, an RBI, and 3 R. His minor league career is littered with really crappy hitting seasons, so I am not that excited about the .308/.357./.846 he is hitting so far. Somebody test him!
25 year-old Michael Gosling, continues to pitch well at AAA. Gosling twirled 6 innings, allowing just four hits and one earned run. Gosling struck out 3. So far for the Bats, Gosling has pitched 11 innings given up 10 H, a BB, 2 ER, and 8 Ks.
Louisville 3, Ottawa 0
35 year-old, Chris “Grandpa” Michalak, pitched 6 more scoreless innings for the win. Michalak struck out 1, and allowed 4 hits. That makes 12 scoreless innings to start the season in which he has given up 7 hits, 2 BB, and he has 6 Ks. He clearly needs a spot on a major league roster somewhere.
AA
Chattanooga 2, Carolina 1 in 10 innings
26 year-old Eddie Valdez pitched 6 stellar innings allowing just one earned run. Valdez walked 3 and struck out 5. The Lookouts won 4 of 5 from Carolina on Alex Sanchez’ sacrifice fly in the 10th inning.
HIGH A
22 year-old Cody Strait went 2 for 4 with a 2B, and 2R. Last year at Dayton, Strait hit .266/.349/.426.
LOW A
19 year-old 1st round pick, (and Griffey replacement) Jay Bruce went 1 for 2 with a 2B, 2 BB, 2 R. He is now hitting .317/.364/.537. Bill Lack is to remain 1000 yards from Mr. Bruce from now on.
20 year-old Johnny Cueto, rebounded very nicely from his rough debut, throwing a 6 inning one-hitter. Cueto, from the Domincan Republic, struck out 8.
