28 year-old Robert Stratton went 3 for 5 with a R. Stratton is stroking early .357/.419/.536. He has been brought to the majors the last three years by 3 different teams and every year he pounds the ball, but still he has remained in AAA for 4 long years. Wonder what these “baseball people” know?
23 year-old Ryan Wagner pitched 1.1 scoreless innings. He allowed a hit a walk, and he struck out 3. In 5 IP at Louisville so far he has given up 6 hits, 2 ER, 2BB, and he has 7 Ks. His ERA is 3.60.
25 year-old Aaron Herr hit his second homer of the year, a two run shot in the 6th inning. Herr is now hitting .250/.282/.528. Herr was a 1st round pick of the Braves in 2000, but he has never really put it together offensively.
HIGH A
Lakeland 6, Sarasota 2
22 year-old Camilo Vazquez pitched 5 shutout innings giving up 4 hits and a walk, he struck out 7. The Cuban-born pitcher now has a 1.00 ERA this year with 11Ks in 9 IP.
LOW A
1st Round pick Jay Bruce is back!! Bruce went 3 for 4 with a 2B, a 3B, and a R. He is hitting .308/.325/.513 for the young season.
We need to have Wagner back, desperately. Let’s hope he continues to improve.
As for Stratton, I’d love to see him as the 5th outfielder in Cincinnati. He can mash.
