From the DDN:

Alonzo Powell will return to the Class A Midwest League Dayton Dragons this summer, but as hitting coach, according to new Reds farm director Johnny Almaraz.

“He’s a very, very good hitting instructor,” said Almaraz, who replaced Tim Naehring as farm director just a few weeks before spring training began last month.

Powell managed the Dragons the last two seasons, but was to be a bench coach at Class AAA Louisville for this season.

Meanwhile, Billy Gardner Jr. was named as the new Dragons manager while Larry Pierson was retained as pitching coach and Billy White was to return as hitting coach after coaching Reds’ high Class A teams the past two seasons. Instead, White has been released.
