In yesterday’s night game in Grapefruit League play, the Reds were downed by the Twins 10-3. The Twins took advantage of a 5-run 6th inning to take a commanding 9-0 lead after 6. Dave Williams was roughed up in the start, going 3.2 innings, allowing 6 hits, 4 runs, with 1 strikeout. Homer Bailey was also knocked around, going 1.2 innings, surrendering 6 hits and 5 runs. Dave Weathers allowed another run in an inning of work. Chris Hammond pitched a scoreless 9th.
Offensively, the Reds struggles continued, managing only 7 hits compared to Minnesota’s 15. The Reds scored all 3 runs in the 7th inning off of rbi-singles from Menechino, Snyder, and Buchanan.
In WBC news, the USA lost to Korea 7-3. Despite the loss, Griffey went 3-4 with another homerun and 2 runs batted in.
