Reds made the following cuts to their spring roster today:

Optioned pitcher Elizardo Ramirez and infielder Ray Olmedo to Louisville of the International League (AAA); optioned pitchers Travis Chick and Phil Dumatrait, catcher Miguel Perez and first baseman Joey Votto to Chattanooga of the Southern League (AA); assigned pitchers Jimmy Journell and Ben Kozlowski to minor league camp.

With the departure of Ramirez and Dumatrait, it looks like the 5th rotation spot is down to Gosling and Germano for sure now if Wilson is not ready to go. I guess I’m a bit disappointed that Belisle is not getting a better look as a starter this spring. Narron led us to believe over the winter that he would get that opportunity should Wilson not be ready. I haven’t even heard his name on the radar as being in the running for the rotation.

Also noted that Kansas City signed Luke Hudson to a minor league contract today.
