From the Enquirer:

On Homer Bailey:

Does he think he has a shot at making the team?

“Probably not,” he said. “I was in low A Dayton last year. My goal is to start at (Double-A) Chattanooga. I’m here to learn. I can pick up a lot from these guys.”

From low A to AA when you weren’t dominating? Isn’t that a jump? Seems like Sarasota’s a more logical starting spot.

On Bong, Hudson:

Left-hander Jung Keun Bong cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville.

Bong had been designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Scott Hatteberg.

Bong, one of two pitchers obtained in the trade of reliever Chris Reitsma to Atlanta, spent last season on the 60-day disabled list with shoulder and hand injuries.

Right-hander Luke Hudson, designated for assignment to make room for left-hander Michael Gosling, cleared waivers also. Hudson is in camp, awaiting an assignment.

I’d expect Hudson to be in AAA also.

And the line of the day….

Reliever Kent Mercker, upon seeing the long-haired, bearded Paul Wilson: “I don’t know whether to hug you or pat you down.”
