A couple of days ago, I received the 2006 edition of The Baseball Prospect Book by John Sickels. After hearing praise for the book for years, I decided to purchase it this year.

I have not been disappointed, and I encourage you all to buy the book. It doesn’t look good, because of some trouble with the printer, but as they say, don’t judge this book by its cover. Superb.

I’ll have some excerpts about the Reds when I get time to post them. Suffice to say that Homer Bailey is the only Reds prospect worth mentioning at this time.

UPDATE: Shawn has several good posts about the book and what it says about the Reds system. Click here and keep scrolling down the page.

And Chris, it does seem that we’re thinking alike. First the sabermetric encyclopedia, now this. What’s next?
