Paul Daugherty on new owner Bob Castellini: “After so many years of hearing how the Cincinnati Reds couldn’t do things, here was a guy telling us how they could and, in fact, would.”

That fact that he saw John Allen as part of the problem speaks volumes about Castellini. It will be interesting to see how patient he will be with O’Brien. I think O’Brien has to pull off a major trade or signing to keep his job.

If O’Brien gets the axe, who would Castellini bring in to replace him?

Right now if O’Brien goes it looks to me like Lou Pinella becomes GM. I’m not too comfortable with that, but Castellini and Lou seem to have a good relationship.

Listening to Marty B. on Louisville radio right now sounds like Lou may be doing TV this year, waiting in wings to get Yankee job in 2007. Do you have any other ideas on a possible GM if job opens up?
