The article addresses the organization’s catching situation…but the one comment that I found interesting:

Further down the depth chart, Dane Sardinha will have a chance to win a spot on the 25-man roster with a solid Spring Training. Sardinha, a second-round pick in the 2000 First-Year Player Draft, spent the past two seasons at Triple-A Louisville. Miguel Perez, 22, made the sizeable leap from high Class A Sarasota to the Majors last season and is considered a promising prospect.

I don’t see this team carrying 3 catchers, though I guess it is possible with swing players like Freel and Womack on the roster. This would allow the use of Valentin more often as a PH, if you still had Sardinha in reserve.

It’s high time that Sardinha get his shot. I think his offensive numbers could come around by seeing Chambliss every single day. If he performs well then he becomes attractive trade bait as well.

He’s never gotten on base, he’s never hit for power. I see no reason he’s going to learn to hit at the Major League level.

I’m starting to think that the team nickname is short for Redundants 😆
