The Enquirer reported today that Narron said that Matt Belisle may get a shot at the fifth rotation spot if Paul Wilson is not ready to go.

Wilson, who had shoulder surgery June 17, is scheduled to begin throwing off the mound next week.

Wilson and Eric Milton, who were a combined 9-20 last year, have to turn it around for the Reds to have a chance.

Narron said if Wilson’s not ready the Reds will look at Matt Belisle for the fifth starting spot.

I was expecting that it would probably be Hudson, or maybe Hancock, but I was pleasantly surprised that Belisle was the only candidate that he mentioned in the event that Wilson is not ready to start the season. The next person I’d like to see get a shot is Justin Germano. Of course this is all based on the current roster. I’m still expecting things to change before opening day.

Later,
Tom

I doesn’t think that Germano’s ready to compete for a starting spot just yet. I’d like to see him have a solid start in AAA and bring up up mid-season.
