Scores from Sunday, August 7
AAA
Norfolk 3, Louisville 2
Is it just me or does it seem as though our minor league system has a problem of holding onto leads late just like our big league club? 29 year old Chris Booker gave up 2 9th inning runs on 3 hits and 2 walks to blow the 2-1 lead and eventually the game. Despite that, Booker is 8-3 on the year with a 2.36 ERA. He has 74Ks in 53.1 innings pitched. Not only that, he’s allowed only 1 homerun over that stretch.
AA
West Tennessee 3, Chattanooga 0
Travis Chick took to the mound again and took the loss. He went 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks. He struck out 3. With Chattanooga, Chick is now 0-1 with a 3.79 ERA. He’s allowed 13 bases on balls compared to 9Ks. Overall, he is 2-10 with a 5.03 ERA.
High A
Sarasota 0, Lakeland 0
This game was postponed due to rain
Low A
Dayton 4, Kane County 10
Our boy Adam Rosales went 2-5 with a homerun and 2 rbis in the loss for the Dragons. Rosales’ stats continue to impress. He is now at .357/.383/.595.
The loss for the Dragons can be contributed to a 7 run, 5th inning by Kane County.
Rookie
Helena 5, Billings 1
Would you believe that just 2 nights after being no-hit by Helena, Billings would manage only 1 hit and that wouldn’t come until the 8th inning? That’s how it went down tonight in Billings. CF Brandon Roberts had an rbi single in the 8th inning to prevent another no-hitter. Roberts, the Mustangs’ best offensive producer, is now hitting .313/.372/.448 on the year with 22 stolen bases.
So that wraps up the night that was for the Reds farm system. A bleak day/night for the Reds franchise as not a single one of our teams were capable of a win.
Your link to Brandon Roberts is incorrect above. He is the new CF from Cal-Poly San Luis
Obispo, Ca. Your link goes to the other Brandon Roberts who now goes by JD Roberts. 1st base Thanks
