I had the opportunity to watch the Chattanooga Lookouts play last night against the Tennessee Smokies in Sevierville, TN. The Lookouts won easily, but it was fun getting to watch the Reds’ AA affiliate play for the first time.

Phil Dumatrait started for the Lookouts, and he’s as good as advertised. He made one bad pitch, but he was in control the entire time. I’m very excited to see him in Florida next spring. Here’s a photo I snapped of Phil:

Also, D’Angelo Jiminez was a man among boys. I know his numbers aren’t great since his demotion, but it was clear that he didn’t belong in AA.

Anyway, it was a good evening, and Tennessee has a great little ballpark. I look forward to going back soon, but first, I’ll be travelling to Chattanooga next week to catch a game against the Birmingham Barons. I don’t think Michael Jordan will be playing, but I’m hoping to catch the newest Lookout, Travis Chick.

Bannon didn’t play while I was there, unfortunately. He has some pop in his bat, but I’m afraid he won’t ever get on base enough to be productive.

Plus, he’s old for his league, but he might be a decent 25th man on a ML team.
