Don’t know how everyone missed this intriguing interview with Dayton Dragon (and 2004 #1 pick) Homer Bailey. Lots of talk about huntin’ and cowboy hats, not much about baseball.
I read that yesterday. It scared me. Makes me think he doesn’t care about baseball. I love Bailey’s talent, but after reading that, I question his make-up. Do they screen our draft picks at all.
Having done similar types of pieces before, my guess is Baseball America either a) didn’t ask a lot of baseball questions or b) decided not to use them because the non-baseball stuff was more interesting. Reporters do not use everything they get from an interview, just what they think is the best.
